Praise is an act of your will. Let me show you what I mean. At sports games be it football, soccer, basketball, or baseball, to name a few, no one forces the fans to shout, holler, or chat for their teams. For the love of their teams, fans cheer and cheer for them. In other words, they are praising their teams as act of their own will.
Now let's take a look at what God's Word say about praise.
Psalm 91:1 says, "It is a good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing his praises to Thy name, O Most High."
Psalm 135:1-2 says, "Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord; Praise Him, O servants of the Lord. You who stand in the house of the Lord, In the courts of the house of our God! Praise the Lord for te Lord is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely."
Psalm 66: 1-3 says, "Shout joyfully to God, all the earth. Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, How awesome are Thy works!"
Psalm 47:2 says, "O' clap your hands, all peoples. Shout to God with the voice of joy."
Psalm 106:1 says, "Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting."
When you think about the goodness of God and all that He has done and will do, we should be more than glad to give Him praise from our mouths and our voice. Psalm 121 says that the Lord is our helper and keeper; He protects us from all evil; He will guard our going out and coming in from this time and forever; and much more.
What sports team will or has done any of these things for you or me? None. Yet, people "praise" their teams.
From this day forward, make a decision to give God praise each and everyday. He is worthy of our praise and He inhabits the praises of His people.
