Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from you sight. Keep
them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And health
to all their whole body.” (ASV)
In this passage of scripture, God gives clear and precise
instructions to us regarding His words. In
sentence #1, we are addressed as His children and are instructed to give
attention to His words. We are to pay
close attention to His words and to hear intently to His sayings. We accomplish this by studying or listening
to His words daily. We are to guard our
ears as to what we allow to enter our minds. We should
be careful of what we see on TV, movies, and videos; what we hear through social media and
music; what we read; and what conversations we listen to.In the 2nd sentence, we are told to not let His words depart from our sight. We are to stay focus on His words. The 3rd sentence tells us to keep His Words in the midst of our heart (spirit). As we study and focus on God’s words on a regular basis, our spirit will be built-up strong.
In the 4th sentence, God promises that life will
be found to those who pay attention, incline their ears, and keep His words in
their sight and heart. And for the grand
prize, the last sentence, God’s word will bring health to all of our body.
Be Blessed!
