Lay Hold of God's Word

The words of our mouth come out of our heart (spirit) and affect our lives.  The Bible tells us that “life and death are in the power of the tongue."  Are you speaking life or death?  Are you speaking blessing or curses?  Knowing how our words can affect us, our circumstances and the lives of others, we should be careful of the words that we allow to come out of our mouths.

Proverbs 4:4-6 says, “Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom and she will protect you, love her and she will watch over you.”

As you can see in Proverbs 4, we are to keep God’s Word in our heart (spirit man).  We are to obey His every word and live.  We are to seek out wisdom, which is the Word of God and by so doing, we will get understanding.   We are not to forget the Word of God and don’t move away from the Word of God.  If we keep wisdom (the Word of God), wisdom (the Word of God) will protect us.  If we love wisdom (the word of God), wisdom (the Word of God) will watch over us.

We get the Word of God by studying God’s Word.  As we study the Word of God, God will speak to us.  He will instruct us.  He will keep us.  He will protect us.  He will watch over us and guard us in every area of our lives.  Don’t let a day go by without spending time in God’s Word.  Study His Word and live.

When we lay hold of God’s Word and fill our hearts with His Word, blessing words will come out of our mouths.  We will begin to recognize words that are not of God.  We will begin to say only what God has said – Words of Blessings!

Words of Life

One of the fascinating things I love about God’s Word is that God’s Words gives us life.  God’s Word is so full of life and all we need to do is to study His Word and obey His Word and life comes.  Let’s take a deeper dive into what I have said.   First Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”  So our first part is to get the Word of God.  And where do we get it?  It (God’s Word) comes directly from him (God).  When you open your bible each day and read it, you are receiving the Word of God.

Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight; keep them in within your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s hold body.”  God is talking here.  He is saying, hint, hint, children, if you want life and health, all you have to do is pay attention to my words and listen to my words (listening with the intent to do).

Proverbs 3:1-2 says, “My son do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart for they will prolong your life many years and bring prosperity” and Proverbs 4:13 tells to “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.”  As you can see, the Word of God can prolong your life, bring you prosperity and we are instructed by God to guard it well for it is our life.

God’s Word is life.  Spend time daily reading and studying Gods Word.  God’s Word has promised us life, long life, health and prosperity.   Our life is like a vapor and we are only a breath away from death, so time spent with God is not wasted time, it is life.

Forgiveness Open Doors

We as mere humans have trouble forgiving.  We often say, I forgive, but I won't forget. Consider this question.   Can a person truly forgive if he or she will never forget whatever it is or was?  God said that he will remember your sins no more and put them the sea of forgetfulness. God has given us a command to forgive and it would be wise of us to obey his Word.  Go to the book of Mark 11:25.  In this book Jesus said,  "And when you stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any that; that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you and your trespasses."

Read Mark 11:25 one more time.  Did you get it?  Forgiving is not a choice, it it is a command. We are to forgive.  Let's put it this way, if you want your sins forgiven, then you too must forgive.  This is what Mark 11:25 is saying. Praying to God without forgiving others, block your prayers; and then we wonder why our prayers go unanswered.  Wonder no more. Fogiveness opens doors to answered prayers.

So my brothers and sisters (and me too), the next time you pray, forgive.  If you have trouble in this area, ask God to help you.  Ask God to remove the hurt and pain from you so you can obey Mark 11;25 and forgive.  God will do it if you ask him because he loves you and only wants the best for you.

Be Blessed.

God Loves You

In Romans 8:38-39 Paul says, "For I am persuaded, neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  WOW!  This is good news, good word and just plain ole good.

There is nothing -absolutely nothing that  can separate (stop) God from loving us.  He loves us.  He cares us for.  He will provide for us. He will heal us.  He will help us. He will direct us.  God loved us so much that He sent his son, Jesus, to earth to be born of a woman; to walk on this earth as a man; to take on all of the evils of this world; to die for us and to the glory of God, to go to hell and was raised from the dead so we do not have to.

Jesus is now sitting at the right hand of God interceding for us.  This is a whole lot of love folks. God's love is unfailing and it is everlasting.  No matter what you have done or did, he loves us and has made a way for us to be forgiven through his son, Jesus Christ.  God wants us to know how much he loves us and one way to know is to spend time with him, to study his Word and to pray. When we do these things, he will reveal himself and we will get to know him.

Be Blessed in the Lord!

God is Good

God is Good.  God loves you and He wants to take care of you. The Bible is full of God's promises. I encourage you to take time to read God's Word, get to know Him and see that He is merciful and loving.  The scriptures below are just a glimpse of what God has said that He will do for you.

Lamentation 3:25, "The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him; to those who seek him quietly.

Psalm 91: 1, " He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

Psalm 37:4, "Delight your self in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."

Psalm 40:1, " I waited patiently for the Lord, for he turned to me and heard my cry."

Psalm 91:14-16, "Because he loves me, says the Lord, "I will rescue him. I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  He will call upon me,  and I will answer him; I will be with him in the time of trouble.  I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and how him my salvation."

Spend time in the Word of God, Believe, Confess, and Expect!

God's Glory

"To the glory of God.  May God get the glory.  So that God may be glorified."  Most of us have heard these statements either in church, in the Bible, or from a man or woman of God.  But have you ever thought about what "God's Glory" mean?  Why is the Bible full of such declarations? Why are these important?   Let me explain.

God's Glory is his power.  God's Glory is his ability to set us free from all issues of life.  God's Glory is His awesome presence. God told Moses to stand behind a cliff on the mountain so when He (God) passed by Moses could see his glory (presence).  When the children of Israel were hungry and wanted meat to eat, Moses told them that in the morning they would see his (God) glory; and they did. God gave them quail to eat. Glory is this statement is God's power.

To sum it up, God's Glory is for us because he loves us.  God's Glory will deliver you and set you free. God's Glory will work on your behalf.  Have faith, believe, and don't doubt, and you will see or experience God's Glory; and when this happens, God will be glorified in the earth.

Be Blessed!

Life Happens - Part 1

Life happens to us all.  No matter who you are, what you have or don't, life happens.  Life happens is a phrase that I've used for some time now because it sums up the transition of life events, be it good or bad.  Life happens to the young at heart and the seasoned and mature adults.  Eventually, life happens to all of us at some time of our lives.   Because life happens, the key issue is not the event, but how you, me, we handle the event.  When a good "life happens" occurs, what do we do?  How do we handle a negative or bad "life happens" event?  You might say, good life happens events are a breeze and easy to deal with.  Well let's take a dipper dive.

When a good life happens event takes place, do you consider yourself above every one?  Do you think that you are untouchable and have no compassion for others who are not where you are? Do you look at yourself and say, "look what I did"?  You see a "good life happens" event has the potential to give you a sense of pride and arrogance;  a sense that you do not need God.  If this happens, you are entering into dangerous territory.  So my sisters and brothers in Christ, when a "good life happens" event comes your way, ask God to keep you humble.  Thank God for blessing you with the "good life happens" event.  By doing so, you will not give the devil a chance to corrupt you and your experience. Testify to others about your event without bragging, but in worship and praise to God for his goodness and blessing.  By doing  this you will give others hope in God and you will keep yourself humble. Scripture tells us if anyone brags, let him brag in the Lord.

Be Blessed!

While Outside

As I sit in a special corner of my house, I have an amazing view of outside.  Not only is this my sit corner, but it also serves as my write...
